Political Background

Benjamin Franklin

- Ben became involved in politics in the 1750s when he went to England and France to fight for the rights of who should respresent the colonies of Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Jersey and Massachusetts. After a few years of this he became fed up with the political dealings of England and the colonies and thought that the colonies should unite in a new nation. This ultimately led to the American Revolution against England, the Declaration of Independance and Ben being remembered as one of the 'Founding Fathers' of America.

- Ben was the first Postmaster General of the United Colonies of America.

- Ben was influention in ratifying the Constitution and and forming one form of government to be first run by George Washington, his friend and our first President.
